Privacy Policy
Helpal collects and processes limited information to operate Helpal, reduce fraud, enforce academic-integrity rules, process payments, and resolve disputes. For privacy questions, contact admin@helpal.co.uk.
What we collect
- Account details such as your name, email address, role, and profile information.
- Request details and files you upload, including briefs, drafts, notes, and learning-support documents.
- Payment and transaction records, including provider references and dispute or refund activity.
- Operational logs such as timestamps, workflow actions, and moderation history.
- Integrity acknowledgement records, including IP address and user agent when policy confirmations are accepted.
- Support, dispute, and verification materials where they are needed for platform safety or compliance.
Why and how we use it
- To create accounts, route requests, and deliver learning-support services.
- To process payments, run the payment review and release flow, and handle refunds or disputes.
- To detect misuse, enforce platform rules, and investigate prohibited requests.
- To improve reliability, analytics, security, and service operations.
Lawful bases
- Contract: where we need the information to operate your account, route a request, or run a paid service flow.
- Legal obligation: where payment, tax, fraud, or compliance rules require us to keep or disclose records.
- Legitimate interests: where we need records for platform safety, moderation, fraud prevention, and service reliability.
- Consent: where we rely on a permission-based action, such as a specific acknowledgement or optional contact preference.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only where needed to operate Helpal, such as with payment processors, hosting and email providers, analytics tools, and the other party involved in your request where that sharing is necessary to fulfil the service.
Retention
We retain account, payment, moderation, and dispute records only for as long as they are reasonably needed for service operation, fraud prevention, audit, dispute handling, and legal compliance. Some financial, payment, tax, moderation, or dispute records may need to be kept for several years after account closure. Where deletion is legally available, you can request it through support.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or move some of your personal data. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you think your data has been handled unlawfully.
Your controls
You can ask to review or update account details, and you can contact support if you want to make a privacy request. Some information may need to be retained where payments, disputes, or legal obligations require it.
